Weekly Update
April 19, 2026
ARchives:
We have officially crossed the rubicon. As of yesterday, April 18th at 5:00 PM, the membership rolls for the 2026 Leadership Race are closed. This week was defined by a frantic, final "ground game" as campaigns scrambled to verify their supporters and secure the massive $60,000 final installment required to stay on the ballot.
1. The Field is Set: Five Candidates Remain
The "April 18th Wall" has claimed its final victims. After a week of speculation, we can confirm the final ballot for May 30th will feature five names.
The Final Five: Iain Black, Caroline Elliott, Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Yuri Fulmer, and Peter Milobar.
The Hamm Withdrawal: On April 12th, the field shrank by one as Warren Hamm officially suspended his campaign. In a strategic move for the "outsider" lane, Hamm threw his full support behind Yuri Fulmer, citing Fulmer as the only candidate who can prevent a "liberal takeover" of the party.
2. The $60,000 Filter
Each of the five remaining candidates had to produce a $60,000 non-refundable payment yesterday.
Institutional Strength:Peter Milobar and Iain Black reportedly cleared this hurdle early in the week, signaling strong donor confidence from the business and legislative communities.
Grassroots Power:Caroline Elliott utilized a massive digital "micro-donation" blitz to meet her target, proving her "Win For BC" movement has real financial legs.
3. Current Blue Score Standings
Analysis:Yuri Fulmer saw the most significant growth this week thanks to the Warren Hamm endorsement. By consolidating the "anti-establishment" vote, Fulmer is now within striking distance of the top two.
๐ Whatโs Next? The "Quiet" Period
Now that the membership list is locked, the race moves into a different phase: Internal Persuasion.
May 9: Ballots will begin to be distributed to members in good standing.
The Strategy: Expect the next three weeks to be less about "public" rallies and more about "private" phone-banking. Campaigns will be calling every member on the official list to secure those crucial 1st and 2nd preference votes.
The Debate Legacy: The fallout from the Juno News debate continues to echo; Iain Black is using his standout performance there to target "undecided" voters who are looking for a policy-heavy alternative to the frontrunners.
